Oratorical Contest Winners Luncheon Meeting

The Oratorical scholarship for the boys and girls first place winners was presented in honor and memory of Andrew Vargas. Winners were present with their families and recognized by Oratorical Chairman Bob Bastien. Receiving their award medallions were first place boy's winner Jonathan Viernes, boy's second place winner Jared Gerfers, and girl's second place Carsyn Beall. Girl's first place winner Mahathi Mula was unable to attend the luncheon. Both boys winners presented their speeches to the club and guests. Guests in attendance included Jonathan's parents Joe and Ernestine Viernes; Jared's grandparents Richard and Donna Bennett; and Carsyn's parents Shane and April Beall. The luncheon was in the large meeting room to accommodate the large turnout for this great event.

The Essay scholarship for the first place winner was presented in honor and memory of Richard "Dick" Heckard. The winners were present with their families. Receiving certificates and their medals were first place winner is Shelbie Stannard, second place is Kylie Morgan, and third place is Jonathan Viernes. In attendance with Shelbie were her mother and sister; Kylie's mother and father, Sandra and Buddy; and Jonathan's mother and father, Ernestina and Joe.

President Don has delivered the necessary paperwork and fee to the District Meeting on Saturday, Feb 19, 2011."
