Noon Optimist Club of Galveston officially began April 22, 1940 with eighteen charter members. Our Optimist Club is autonomous and run by our own community members. Affiliated with Optimist International, our club practices the “Friend of Youth” motto with projects including oratorical and essay scholarship programs, youth appreciation activities, CHICKEN Club anti-drug abuse program, safety programs and more. We have the unique flexibility to serve the youth of our community in the way we see fit.

Galveston Optimists pledge when joining the club to uphold the Purposes of Optimist International to develop optimism as a philosophy of life; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for law; to promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people; to aid and encourage the development of youth in the belief that the giving of one’s self to others will advance the well-being of man, his community and world. We hold dear the tenets of the Optimist Creed written by Christian Larsen, which we have memorized and recite at our meetings.

Our Noon Optimist Club has a long tradition of excellence locally and at zone and district levels. We relish our past and continue to look with Optimism in our present and future. This website is a vehicle to contribute and support the plans, visions, successes, and celebrations of the Noon Optimist Club of Galveston benefitting our community and beyond.
